The variety belongs to traditional landraces and has a number of synonyms, such as Jämtlands vit, Delbopotatis and Jokkmokk. Historically, its appearance in Sweden is associated with the name of Jonas Alströmer in 1720, although there is no documentary evidence of this fact.
The tubers of the variety have a round or flattened-round shape. In terms of culinary properties, the variety is classified as multipurpose. Data on maturity group, haulm height, as well as quantitative indicators of disease resistance and agronomic requirements are not presented in reference sources.
