The Gasore variety was selected from genetic material of Belgian origin and became widely distributed in Rwanda. In the 1990s, the variety was reintroduced into the Belgian agricultural industry and was also exported to France. It continues to be used in breeding programs in Belgium.
The variety possesses high resistance to late blight and potato Y-virus. Under Rwandan conditions, the yield was 10 tons per hectare and higher with the application of nitrogen fertilizers. The period from the beginning of flowering to harvest is about 37 days. The variety is used as a food crop.
