The Haalikas variety is a traditional potato whose history in Sweden dates back to the 1720s. It is known under various names, including Gammal svensk röd in Sweden, Raudar islenskar in Iceland, as well as Asklanda röd, Nolor and Rödpäror.
The plant belongs to the red-skinned variety group and is valued for its taste qualities. Due to its status as a landrace, the variety does not possess detailed agronomic characteristics typical of modern catalogs. It is currently maintained at NordGen primarily in the form of micro-tubers for the conservation of biodiversity.
