The plant reaches an average height of about 60 cm and tolerates windy conditions well. Tubers have smooth cream-yellow skin and cream-yellow flesh. A distinctive feature is the superficial eyes with purple coloration.
The variety possesses good resistance to blackleg, potato cyst nematode (Ro1), and partial resistance to PCN pallida, as well as notable resistance to slug damage. It shows weak to moderate susceptibility to late blight and common scab.
Kestrel is considered a versatile culinary variety, suitable for boiling, baking, frying, mashing, and making chips.
