The Koral potato variety belongs to commercial varieties of Bulgarian breeding. The plant possesses genetic resistance to the potato wart pathogen Synchytrium endobioticum.
In the course of research, the variety was used to test genetic transformation technologies aimed at increasing resistance to the Colorado potato beetle. The peculiarities of changes in the chemical composition of tubers, including nitrate levels, during their storage were also studied.
