The variety was bred at the Priekuļi Plant Breeding Station. It belongs to the mid-early maturity group and has tubers with white flesh.
In the past, the variety was widespread in Latvia, occupying significant planting areas, but due to its taste qualities, it was used mainly for fodder purposes. There is also a derivative form — the Laimdota 2 variety, which is a spontaneous mutation of the original variety.
