The variety was created at the Potato Research Institute in Stara Sušica. It belongs to the late-maturing varieties. The produce has a high starch and dry matter content, as well as good keeping quality in storage.
The plant possesses resistance to potato leafroll virus, potato virus X, potato virus A, as well as late blight infection of leaves and tubers.
The name Lika is also used as a protected geographical indication Lički krumpir. Other potato varieties grown in the Lika region may be sold under this brand, which should not be confused with the breeding variety Lika.
