The tubers of the variety have an oval shape, and yellow skin and flesh color. The potato is classified as a versatile variety: it maintains its shape well when boiled, which allows for its use in salads, and it is also suitable for baking, frying, and making mashed potatoes.
During research, the variety's reaction to high temperatures was studied, as well as the tubers' tendency to green under light exposure during storage at retail points. The Maranca variety was also used in breeding work as a parent form for developing the Levante and Manitou varieties.
