The variety is the result of folk selection and adaptation to northern conditions, also known under the name Blå Dalsland and a number of local names. Tubers have dark blue-violet skin and light yellowish or white flesh.
The plant belongs to very late varieties. In terms of culinary qualities, it is floury, valued for its good taste, and is distinguished by long keeping quality during storage.
The variety has low resistance to late blight, potato virus Y, and common scab. Characteristics may vary depending on the specific clone or regional strain.
