Variety description

Strateia variety belongs to the mid-early maturity group with a plant height of 150 to 160 cm. Plants possess high tillering capacity: they form 3–5 stems at the first cutting and up to 8 stems at the second. Stems are thin and soft with a diameter of 0.5–0.7 cm, leafiness reaches 53.3%. The panicle is spreading with high pollen-producing capacity.

The first cutting is performed 47–50 days after emergence, the second — 30–35 days after the first; in total, the variety is capable of providing three cuttings per season. Green mass yield is 27–40.5 t/ha, absolute dry matter — 5.72 t/ha. Protein content in hay reaches up to 20%, and sugar in stem juice — up to 12–20%.

The variety is characterized as having medium heat and drought tolerance, with a medium degree of damage by cereal aphids. Plants are intended for use as green fodder and hay, distinguished by a high content of vitamins, carotene, and fiber.
