The Galah variety is intended for use in breeding trials. The primary recorded characteristic of the plant is reduced susceptibility to Fusarium wilt, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. spinaciae, with a disease index of FSI ≤ 25%.

The variety is regularly included in field trials of the International Working Group on Peronospora (IWGP) to monitor resistance to the Peronospora pathogen.
