Variety description

The plant is a shrub or small tree with a pointed top. At 10 years of age, it reaches a height of about 1.8 meters with a width of up to 0.9 meters; the annual growth is 20–30 cm. The variety is a mutation of the Thuja occidentalis 'Emerald Green' cultivar.

The needles are scale-like, golden-yellow, acquiring a more pronounced amber hue in winter. The plant possesses high winter hardiness down to –30…–35 °C, tolerates urban conditions and pruning well, however, it loses the intensity of its needle color in the shade.

The variety prefers moderately moist and well-drained sunny sites. One should be careful when handling the plant, as it is toxic if ingested, and the sap can cause skin irritation.
