The Diplomat variety is a diploid form of red clover (2x). In the European classification, the variety is characterized as medium-early or medium-late.

This variety is intended for the production of green mass, hay, and haylage, as well as for inclusion in forage grass mixtures. In scientific literature, the variety was considered in the context of research on resistance to anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum trifolii.
