The variety has the status of a landrace (conservation variety) and is included in the list of rare agricultural crops. It differs from modern tetraploid varieties by lower yield, but surpasses them in winter hardiness.
The plant possesses specific characteristics of leaf marking, and the height at the beginning of flowering is about 57 cm. Given that it is a landrace, the properties of the variety are characterized by heterogeneity, and the variety Gumpensteiner was selectively bred based on it.
