The Mamede variety was developed by specialists at the Portuguese institute INIAV during a multi-year legume breeding program. It was created for inclusion in commercial mixtures intended for the establishment of biodiverse pastures.
The species Trifolium resupinatum is an annual legume characterized by its ability to naturally regenerate through self-seeding and a high proportion of hard seed.
