Variety description

10 August 2026

The Lajta variety is a hulled wheat widely used in scientific research as a Hungarian breeding reference sample for assessing the influence of growing conditions on grain and flour quality.

Product quality research notes an increased iron content in the grain compared to a number of other varieties. The variety is studied in the context of baking properties, technological characteristics of flour, and nutrient content under various farming methods.

The variety is intended for cultivation in Central European conditions and is actively used in breeding programs as starting material for creating new hybrid combinations.
