Variety description

10 August 2026

The Berserk spring wheat variety was developed using genetic lines associated with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) to introduce favorable alleles into modern Norwegian varieties. In terms of maturity group, it is classified as an early-maturing plant.

In agricultural science, the variety is widely known as an object of molecular genetic research and a participant in breeding programs dedicated to the study of resistance to Fusarium head blight. Within the framework of Norwegian trials, the grain quality indicators of the variety are used for comparison with baking standards, including the evaluation of SDS-test sedimentation volumes.
