Carletto is a short-stemmed awned variety of winter common wheat. The plant possesses exceptional lodging resistance, shows tolerance to powdery mildew and rust diseases, but is less resistant to septoria, tan spot, and Fusarium head blight.
The variety is demanding regarding growing conditions; it is recommended for high-quality soils with a sowing density of 360–400 grains per square meter. It is sensitive to severe drought stress on poor soils.
The grain corresponds to premium quality with high baking characteristics, including dough stability and energy value. By its indicators, the variety is comparable to elite quality groups.
