The Danubia variety is a winter soft wheat that was included in the state lists of Czechoslovakia and Hungary. Genetic studies confirm the presence of the 1B/1R chromosome translocation and the Sr31 resistance gene, which provides resistance to stem rust.
During trials, the variety showed very high susceptibility to the wheat dwarf virus, which led to significant yield losses upon infection. The variety was used in breeding programs, but it is currently excluded from active variety registries.
