In scientific literature and ethnobotanical publications, the name "Dika" refers to ancient Georgian forms of wheat of the species Triticum carthlicum, also known as Persian wheat. This crop is a local endemic that has been cultivated in Georgia for centuries.
Modern breeding centers, including Bc Institut d.d. Zagreb, have not released varieties under the name "DIKA". This name was likely erroneously attributed to modern breeding due to its phonetic similarity to the traditional Georgian term used to denote an ancient cereal species.
