The Disponent variety belongs to mid- or late-maturing. Its genealogy includes the breeding lines Weihenstephaner-616-67 and Kronjuwel.
The plant is a differential variety for the identification of resistance to powdery mildew, as it contains the Pm8 gene. Under laboratory conditions, the variety demonstrated relative resistance to osmotic stress at the seedling stage.
The grain of the variety is characterized by its content of phytochemicals, dietary fiber, and xylanase inhibitors. During the 1970s–80s, the variety was an important commercial crop in Germany.
