The Grisby variety is used in scientific experiments studying nitrogen use efficiency and its remobilization into grain. In European hybrid wheat breeding programs, the variety was used as a maternal line.
Detailed agronomic characteristics, such as plant height, maturity group, or resistance indicators for diseases and lodging, are absent from open publications. In 2005–2010, the variety name was included in European variety lists.
