The variety was bred at a breeding station in the town of Velké Pavlovice through individual selection from a hybrid of the 'Hodonínská holice' variety. The plant belongs to long-stemmed varieties, which determines a susceptibility to lodging on fertile soils.
The variety name indicates the presence of awns. Currently, the variety is not used in large-scale production, but is maintained by enthusiasts as part of the agricultural genetic heritage. The variety's genetic material was used in the development of later wheat lines, including the 'Diana' variety.
