The Holme variety was developed at the Weibullsholm breeding center. It replaced earlier generations of Swedish varieties, such as Starke and Starke II, becoming an important milestone in the development of grain quality and milling research.
The variety was successfully used on a commercial scale for nearly two decades. Detailed quantitative characteristics, such as plant height or specific resistance indicators to pathogens, are not provided in available publications.
