Morphological traits include a dense or very dense ear with medium waxiness, a thin-walled stem, and narrow or medium-width leaves with pubescent auricles. The grain has a red color, a round-ovoid shape, and a size from medium to long.
The variety was actively used in breeding programs as a parental form. In 1972, the variety suffered a severe yellow rust infection, which demonstrated the pathogen's adaptation to previously effective adult plant resistance mechanisms and led to significant yield losses.
