The variety was bred through hybridization (Cougar x Leeds) x Britannia. It belongs to quality group 3 according to the AHDB classification and is oriented towards the food industry. The plant has a medium-length straw of about 90 cm and high lodging resistance.
The variety is mid-maturing and is distinguished by a high grain test weight. It possesses high resistance to yellow and brown rust, as well as to the orange wheat blossom midge. The variety is susceptible to powdery mildew, while demonstrating good resistance to leaf septoria.
LG Astronomer is suitable for early sowing dates and yields consistently on medium and heavy soils. It can be effectively used in crop rotation as a first or second cereal crop.
