Variety description

10 August 2026

The winter soft wheat variety Moldau, sometimes referred to by the synonym Alka, was developed for breeding purposes. In publications from the late 1990s, it is classified as a bread wheat.

In scientific research, the variety was used as a parent component in selecting lines with high resistance to pre-harvest sprouting of grain in the ear. Moldau was also studied in the context of biochemical indicators, including the antioxidant activity of the grain.
