The spring wheat variety Møystad is a product of breeding work in Norway. Genetically, it represents the result of crossing the Norrøna line (Mo 042-40) with the Swedish variety Kärn II.
In scientific research, the variety is considered an important source of genetic material. It is used to study loci that determine stem height, as well as a donor of leaf rust and powdery mildew resistance traits for the breeding of more modern varieties.
The variety has made a significant contribution to the development of Norwegian crop production, passing on favorable yield and adaptability characteristics to future generations of wheat. Information on specific baking qualities in open sources is limited.
