The Seba variety was bred by the Swedish Seed Association in Svalöv. Its genealogy is based on the crossing of the varieties Heine VII and Banco. In 1970, the variety was introduced to the public in parallel with the Virgo variety.
Breeding work for this variety was focused on creating high-yielding plants with good baking qualities, adapted to the climatic conditions of Northern Europe.
