The Sinope variety, also known by the designation Ceb 985, was bred in 1985 by crossing line C-16 and the variety Rialto with subsequent selection of an individual plant in the third generation.

In comparative trials, the variety showed differences from the variety Ritmo, expressed in a greater plant height (by approximately 12 cm) and the presence of a longer ear (on average 21 mm longer). The variety is recognized as stable and uniform based on the results of official trials.
