The plant possesses characteristics typical of mid-20th century wheat, including a certain degree of winter hardiness and resistance to smut. Modern breeding by Syngenta is unrelated to this variety, and the mention of their name in the context of Sioux is an erroneous conflation of a historical name with modern brand lines.
