The Fylgia variety is a soft spring wheat bred at the beginning of the 20th century. Historical agronomic publications noted that it possessed higher yield compared to local Swedish varieties of that period.
The plant was used in genetic research and breeding to transfer disease resistance traits in cereals. There were Fylgia I and Fylgia II lines included in breeding programs. Currently, samples of the variety are preserved at NordGen as part of genetic heritage.
