The variety carries the BtZ resistance gene, obtained as a result of a translocation from Thinopyrum intermedium, and originates from the parent line Zarya, known for its resistance to common bunt (Tilletia spp.). Due to these features, the variety is used as a differential line for the identification of the specified gene.
The plant possesses significant resistance to Tilletia tritici and Tilletia caries, which makes it in demand for organic cultivation. The variety is included in the official EU catalogs of agricultural plants.
