The variety «Vihar» was created within the breeding programs of the K. Malkov Institute of Plant Genetic Resources in Bulgaria. The main objective of the development is aimed at obtaining high-yielding lines with high ecological plasticity intended for cultivation in arid conditions.
The plant is distinguished by its drought tolerance. Comparative studies of the water regime under the institute's conditions showed that the variety demonstrates water exchange indicators at or better than the standard variety «Katya».
