The Berillo variety is a classic representative of Italian breeding, often acting as a parent form when developing new lines and varieties. It is widely represented in international scientific publications as an object of genetic analysis, allowing for the study of the composition of gliadins and glutenins.

The grain quality of the variety is characterized by specific viscoelastic properties of the dough. According to research results, it shows high indices of viscoelasticity of cooked gluten and pasta quality, however, it may demonstrate average SDS sedimentation indices in comparison with modern varieties.

Regarding agronomic traits, the variety is described as moderately susceptible to certain fungal diseases, in particular to rust. Detailed morphological characteristics of the plant are practically absent in open publications, as the variety is considered primarily as historical or model material.
