The variety Biancu Bonorvesu originates from the Sardinia region, Italy, and was traditionally grown in the Logudoro plains until the 1960s. It is closely linked to local bread-making culture, in particular to the production of zichi bread from Bonorva.
The plant belongs to ancient wheat types that were replaced by modern high-yielding varieties during the Green Revolution period. It is characterized by taller culms compared to modern industrial varieties, however, detailed quantitative agronomic parameters for it have not been recorded.
