The variety is intended for the production of high-quality grain suitable for processing into pasta and semolina. In comparative agrotechnical trials, the variety is characterized as early-maturing in terms of heading dates.

During studies, the variety demonstrated susceptibility to yellow rust. Clovis was used in field trials in various regions of Europe, including in agroforestry systems, and is frequently used as a control sample when studying the quality of finished products.
