Variety description

The variety was bred with the participation of the University of Tuscia using chromosomal engineering methods. Its genotype utilizes a recombinant line carrying a translocation of the 7el1L segment from the wild relative Lophopyrum ponticum (Thinopyrum ponticum).

The plant possesses complete immunity to stem and leaf rust due to the Sr25 and Lr19 genes, as well as resistance to powdery mildew due to the Pm13 gene. The variety is adapted to various growing conditions, including arid zones.

Grain quality is characterized by an increased carotenoid content, which is due to the presence of the yellow pigment (Yp) gene associated with the introgressed segment. This increases nutritional value and improves the characteristics of pasta products.
