The Ciccio variety is the result of a breeding process based on the crossing of lines (Appulo × Valnova) × (Valforte × Patrizio). The plant is classified as very short, which provides it with increased resistance to lodging compared to traditional tall varieties.

The variety is intended for pasta production and possesses high productivity. Its development, including plant height and pigment accumulation levels, demonstrates a pronounced dependence on the application of phosphorus fertilizers. The variety is often used in scientific research as a reference genotype when studying grain quality.
