The variety is an ancient folk selection, historically adapted to the climatic conditions of the Enna and Catania provinces. The plant is mid-early, with a growing season of 120 to 123 days.
Stem height reaches 130–140 cm, the culm is flexible, light yellow in color. The ear is long, over 8–10 cm, light-colored, with long awns. The grain is large, vitreous, with a red tint and translucent structure.
The variety prefers light soils and is suitable for cultivation in high-altitude areas. It has traditionally been used for pasta production and in baking.
