The name Riminia is a regional synonym for an ancient local wheat population (landrace) Timilia, formed as a result of folk selection in Sicily. The plant is characterized as tall, reaching 125–135 cm in height, including the ear.

The variety belongs to the "marzuolo" group, which indicates its use as a spring crop, with a ripening period of about 130 days. The crop is distinguished by high drought resistance.

The grain of this wheat is traditionally used in baking, in particular for the production of black bread from Castelvetrano, as well as for making pasta and in craft beer production.
