Tripolitiko is a landrace historically widespread in Cyprus; however, with the introduction of modern high-yielding varieties, its cultivation has decreased. The variety is also known by the alternative names Paphitiko and Chrysositaro.

Traditionally, the variety was used for food purposes for the production of flour and groats. In the past, it demonstrated good yields, exceeding a number of other varieties of its time, but it is less competitive under intensive modern farming conditions.
