The Trinakria variety is a historical Italian durum wheat variety. It was derived using the parent line Capeiti 8 and is traditionally used in the food industry for creating pasta products.

The grain of this variety is characterized by a low concentration of carotenoids and high lipoxygenase enzyme activity. The variety possesses a "stay-green" phenotype, maintaining green leaf color under drought conditions, and exhibits high resistance to leaf rust at the seedling stage due to the presence of the dominant LrTrk gene on chromosome 5B.

In the scientific community, Trinakria is used as a genetic standard and source material for breeding programs aimed at studying photosynthesis and adaptation to abiotic stresses.
