The variety belongs to the group of double early tulips, although its classification as late- or mid-season flowering is sometimes encountered. The peduncle height is about 45 centimeters.

The plant possesses a saturated purple petal shade, which retains its intensity even when wilting. The variety is suitable for use in landscape design as an element of the foreground of compositions.

The name is also used to designate commercial tulip mixtures, which may include other varieties, requiring clarification when selecting planting material.
