The perennial evergreen subshrub reaches a height of 10–25 cm and has dense, shiny dark green foliage. Flowering occurs in June with small white flowers. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and endurance in climatic zones I–VIII.

A distinctive feature is its large-fruited nature: the weight of a single berry is about 0.6 g, which is twice that of wild forms. The plant prefers sunny or semi-shaded locations and well-drained acidic soils, such as peat or sand.

The variety was discovered in Finland (in the Kalanni area) and introduced into cultivation as a valuable natural clone. In addition to its use as a fruit crop, due to the compactness and ornamental appearance of the bush, it is often planted in rock gardens and heather plots.
