The variety forms a rosette of oblong, petiolate, entire leaves. A characteristic feature is the broad leaf blades, which is reflected in the name of Dutch origin.

The leaves have a delicate texture and a specific sweet-nutty flavor with slight astringency. The crop is frost-resistant and is often used as a winter salad, suitable for harvesting from June to October with various sowing dates. Cultivation under film covers promotes increased leaf tenderness.
