The variety forms a dense compact rosette with intensely green, short oval-shaped leaves and long petioles. The plant habit is semi-erect; the taste is characterized as nutty.

The plant is intended for cultivation in the open field, particularly effective when overwintered for harvesting in late autumn and early spring. The variety possesses good general disease resistance, in particular to downy mildew, and is distinguished by high frost resistance.
