Under the name ABOQUEL, two forms are distinguished in Spain: Aboquel Blanco and Aboquel Negro. The varieties are folk varieties; their origin is associated with the Baza and Los Vélez regions.
Aboquel Blanco is classified as a late-maturing table variety. Its berries are medium-sized, oblong, golden-white in color with golden skin; the clusters are not prone to millerandage. The variety has good resistance to rain and is suitable for long-term storage in a hanging position.
Aboquel Negro is characterized by black berries and belongs to the wine grape varieties.
