Sheegene-20
ActiveVitis vinifera L. · Common grape vine
TIMOTHY SHEEHAN
10 August 2026
The variety has a vigorous vine with five-lobed leaves that have dense pubescence on the underside. The clusters are medium, elongated, with round, small or medium-sized bluish berries. Harvesting is carried out late, in October–November.
The plant has good resistance to powdery mildew and drought, however, it is highly susceptible to "noble rot". The variety is demanding regarding soil composition, showing the best results on volcanic soils, and requires strict yield control.
It is used exclusively for the production of red dry wines with high tannin content and acidity. The flavor profile is dominated by notes of dark berries, leather, spices, and mineral undertones; the wines have significant potential for long aging.
