The variety is an autochthon of the Asturias and Castile and León regions. Genetically, it originates from a cross of Savagnin Blanc with an unknown variety. It has many synonyms, including Blanco Legítimo, Blanco Verdín, Raposo, Blanca del País, and Branca Lexitima.

The plant possesses very high vigor and an early maturity group. It is resistant to downy mildew but susceptible to powdery mildew. Bunches are small or medium, conical; berries are elliptical, yellow-green in color with colorless pulp.

Intended exclusively for winemaking. Wines are characterized by aromas of citrus, green apple, herbaceous and floral notes, sometimes with muscat nuances. The variety is often used both in single-varietal wines and in blends with Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc, or Viura.
